Internet Mail
As we have all seen, the growth of email as part of the business process has
been one of the IT phenomena of the last ten years. Very few people would have
predicted that email would become one of the most critical components of every
business.
The Internet Mail Services probe is able to send a test email on a regular
basis via SMTP, read it back through POP3 and then calculate the full round
trip time.
Multiple profiles can be defined to check out different email accounts. These
profiles can have separate response time thresholds and error reporting characteristics.
We can also test email response times through our Microsoft Exchange probe.
All the data from this probe can be passed to the Service
Level Manager for inclusion in performance trending reports.
